Health and Safety Policy

We have implemented a comprehensive Health and Safety Policy that serves as the foundation of our commitment to safety. This policy outlines our responsibilities and sets clear guidelines for all employees, subcontractors and visitors. It is regularly reviewed and updated to ensure compliance with current regulations and industry best practices.

Safety Culture

We believe that safety is everyone’s responsibility. Our company culture promotes open communication, active participation and continuous improvement in health and safety matters. We foster a safe and supportive work environment where employees are encouraged to identify potential hazards, report safety concerns and suggest improvements.

Risk Assessment and Hazard Management

Before commencing any project, we conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop appropriate control measures. We prioritise hazard elimination or reduction through careful planning, engineering controls and administrative measures. We regularly review and update risk assessments to account for changing conditions or new hazards.

Training and Competence

We recognise the importance of providing our employees with the necessary knowledge and skills to work safely. Our workforce undergoes regular training sessions to ensure they are competent in their respective roles and understand the safe work practices and procedures specific to their tasks. We also provide training on emergency preparedness and response to handle unforeseen situations effectively.

We ensure that all team members are well-prepared with essential skills, including full first aid coverage and expertise in operating plant machinery as certified Npors operators. Our dedication to safety is also showcased by our team’s awareness of asbestos-related risks and qualifications. Remarkably, four of our team members hold SMSTS certifications, and all teams maintain a minimum SSSTS qualification.

For our steel erectors and cladders, accreditation by IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) is a testament to their expertise and competence. As safety is a collaborative effort, our groundworkers are equipped with training in manual handling and abrasive wheel operation, ensuring that every member of our team contributes to a safe working environment. At Midbrook Buildings, we take immense pride in fostering a safety-conscious culture, enabling us to deliver top-notch results while prioritizing the well-being of our team and partners.

Safe Work Practices and Procedures

We have established a comprehensive set of safe work practices and procedures that align with legal requirements and industry standards. These guidelines cover various aspects, including working at heights, manual handling, machinery operation, electrical safety and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Adherence to these procedures is strictly enforced at all times.

Monitoring and Continuous Improvement

We continuously monitor our operations to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure compliance with our health and safety standards. This includes regular site inspections, safety audits, incident investigations and near-miss reporting. We encourage all employees to actively participate in our safety improvement initiatives and provide feedback to enhance our practices.
