We’ve recently completed a two-phase commercial roof overcladding project in Cheddleton, Staffordshire, helping to give a historic former papermill a new lease of life.
The building, which dates back more than 100 years, has been repurposed into fabrication workshops for a manufacturer of agricultural livestock equipment.
Rather than replacing the existing roofs entirely, our team carried out overcladding works to improve the condition and weatherproofing of the building while retaining the character of the original structure.
Two-Phase Roof Overcladding Project in Cheddleton
The project was completed in two phases.
Phase 1 focused on the large roof to the rear of the former papermill, before Phase 2 covered the majority of the remaining roof areas.
The works have helped make the building watertight and better suited to its current use as a busy fabrication and manufacturing facility.

The papermill has an interesting history, having originally been built more than a century ago.
Its location was particularly strategic, sitting close to the canal, railway and River Churnet, while the mill also benefited from the vast underground water reservoir beneath the site.
Today, the building has a very different purpose. Its former industrial space has been repurposed into workshops for the manufacture of agricultural livestock equipment.
