Shottle Hall is a much-loved country house wedding venue set in the heart of Derbyshire. Known for its beautiful surroundings and timeless elegance, the team at Shottle wanted to elevate their offering by replacing their existing marquee with something more permanent and one-of-a-kind!
Project Brief
Shottle Hall sought to replace their existing marquee with a sleek, modern steel barn that would complement the surrounding grounds. They envisioned a bold, striking design that would match perfectly with a stylish, elegant interior, creating a truly unique wedding venue in the heart of Derbyshire.
What We Delivered
We’re proud to say we provided a turnkey package for Shottle Hall’s new steel-framed wedding barn, handling everything from the groundworks, landscaping and internal works to the steel building itself.

Highlights include:
- A stylish, modern steel barn with large feature windows that blend seamlessly into the stunning surroundings of this Derbyshire wedding venue
- A 6m x 8m kitchen annexe to support the venue’s catering needs
- A 4.5m x 4m insulated steel link connecting the new barn to the existing building, creating a seamless guest experience
- A fully insulated steel-framed building designed to stay warm in winter and cool in summer – a major upgrade from the previous marquee
- Internal works, including plastering and a striking timber-clad feature wall, adding warmth and character to the interior
- Landscaping for the outdoor seating area, which beautifully extends the space when the bifold doors are open – perfect for summer weddings
We carried out the groundworks with care and precision, including the preparation of a 200mm compacted stone sub-base and the installation of a 200mm insulated raft slab. Every element was completed to ensure long-term durability, comfort, and full compliance with modern building standards.

First wedding hosted: Early May 2025 – Just days after completion, and we are delighted to say it was a gleaming success!
Overcoming Challenges
Every project in construction has its hurdles, this one was no different. The biggest challenge? Time!
With weddings already booked and anticipation growing, the pressure was on. Initial delays caused by external factors meant a later start than planned, but our team pulled together brilliantly. Working efficiently and collaboratively on site, we made up time wherever possible — without ever compromising on quality.
The result? The new steel barn wedding venue was ready just in time and welcomed its first newlyweds with open arms and stunning views.
