what we did...

Midbrook Steel Buildings recently completed a comprehensive steel building project at Reading Blue Coat School in Berkshire, which included the design and installation of three new steel frame buildings and a rifle range complex. The company’s groundworks division also handled demolition, ducting, drainage, water treatment tank installation, concrete yard construction and landscaping. Midbrook managed the internal fit-out of the new structures, with M&E works subcontracted to ARC Mande.

Reading Blue Coat School is an independent day school for boys and girls aged 11-18, with a reputation for academic excellence and a broad range of extracurricular activities. The school’s facilities were in need of expansion and improvement to meet the growing needs of its students and staff. Midbrook Steel Buildings was chosen as the principal designer and contractor for this project due to its expertise in steel frame construction and its ability to manage all aspects of the project from start to finish.

Midbrook Steel Buildings developed a comprehensive plan that took into account the school’s schedule and operations, as well as the specific requirements of each building and structure. The company’s experienced team of designers, engineers and construction professionals worked closely with the school to ensure that the new facilities met its needs while minimising disruption. Midbrook’s groundworks division handled all aspects of site preparation and construction, including demolition, ducting, drainage, and water treatment tank installation, as well as concrete yard construction and landscaping. The company also managed the internal fit-out of the buildings, with M&E works subcontracted to ARC Mande.

The project was completed on time and within budget, with all new facilities meeting the school’s needs and exceeding its expectations. The new steel framed buildings and rifle range complex provided much-needed additional space for the school’s grounds, maintenance and activity compound, while the mono pitch building for controlled access provided a secure space for equipment storage. The new steel framed buildings were also designed to be energy-efficient, with features such as insulated cladding and roof panels, helping to reduce the school’s energy costs and carbon footprint.

Midbrook Steel Buildings demonstrated its expertise in steel frame construction and project management with the successful completion of the new steel buildings and rifle range complex at Reading Blue Coat School. The new facilities will provide a lasting benefit to the school, its students, and staff, for years to come.
